Student-Pass in Singapore

In Singapore, all international students must hold the Student’s Pass issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) if the student has been accepted by one of the educational school to pursue a full-time study.

Student Pass Application Requirements

Application Procedures

An international student who has been accepted by an educational institution/ school to pursue full-time study in Singapore will need to apply for a Student's Pass.

For those 18 years old and below is going to study in either (A) or (B) or (C):-

(A) Government/ Government-Aided/ Independent Schools or

(B) Institutes of Technical Education or

(C) Local Polytechnics.

• You required a Local Sponsor for the application of Student’s Pass.

• Student’s Pass Application processing time will take within 30 days (4 weeks approximately),

• To apply for a Student's Pass, you must be accepted into an approved full-time study in Singapore.

• The Registration Acknowledgement Letter from the school you plan to study and attend,

• Your travel document Bio-data page (Passport, Birth Certificate, Indentity card),

• Your personal information and your educational background (if any),

• Your parents’ personal information (Passport and Yearly Annual Incomes),

• Your residential address and contact details in Singapore,

• Your email address,

• Your recent, passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months. (35mm wide by 45mm high, without any borders),

• Foreign born applicants aged 12 years below, are required to submit their vaccination information to Health Promotion Board w.e.f. 1 Feb 2019. For details visit: Health Promotion Board Website

• We recommend you apply for a Student’s Pass before arriving in Singapore as you cannot extend your stay while processing is underway. If your application is approved, you can then enter Singapore to complete the formalities required to issue your Student’s Pass.

• An issuance fee of S$60 for Student’s Pass and a S$30 for Multiple Journey Visa (if applicable).

• Student’s Pass applicants aged 15 or older may be required to undergo a medical check-up. Your IPA letter will mention if it is required in your case. (IPA - In-Principle Approval).

• If your application is successful, ICA will issue you an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. Your Student’s Pass will only be issued if you meet all the conditions stipulated in this letter. You must then bring all the documents listed in your IPA letter to ICA Building at:
  Visitor Services Centre ICA Building,
  10 Kallang Road, Level 4 (next to Lavender MRT station)
  Singapore 208718.

Estimated Cost of Personal Expenses

An international student spends an average S$1500 to $3000 per month on living expenses (exclude school fees). This amount varies depending on each individual personal daily expenditure, home-stay, tuition fees, lifestyle activities and transportation.
